Product Description

Taper drill rod is used for rock drilling, blasting holes and other drilling works in the quarries, coal mines, traffic and other contractions. It works with taper drill bits and has different length for various applications. Our taper drill rods come in a variety of taper angles. Generally, light-duty rock drills usually use 7° taper or smaller, while heavy-duty rock drills mainly use 11° and 12° taper angles. The fundamental theory is that taper drill rods and taper drill bits must share the same tapered degree. We provide tapered rods in a full range of shank configurations and steel hex diameters for hand-held pneumatic drilling needs.

  • Steel grade: 95CrMo equivalent to SANDBAR20 or C253, Z708, sanbar23, 55SiMnMo
  • Shank size: Hex 22mm × 108mm, Hex 22mm × 159mm, Hex 22mm × 80mm, Hex 25mm × 108mm, Hex 25mm × 159mm
  • Taper: 4°46', 6°, 7°, 11°, 12° etc.
  • Length: 0.4m - 10m
  • Productivity: 50,000 MT / month

Note: Shank hex. 22 mm (7/8") x 108 mm (4 1/4"). Rod hex. 22 mm (7/8). Flushing hole diameter 6.7 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are tapered drill rods primarily used for?
Tapered drill rods are essential for rock drilling, creating blasting holes, and other excavation tasks in quarries, coal mines, and various construction projects.
2. Which taper angles are available for these rods?
We offer a full range of taper angles, including 4°46', 6°, 7°, 11°, and 12°. Light-duty drills typically use 7° or smaller, while heavy-duty machines require 11° or 12°.
3. What materials are used in the manufacturing process?
The rods are manufactured from high-quality carbon steel, including grades like 95CrMo (equivalent to SANDBAR20), 55SiMnMo, and 23CrNi3Mo, using a forging process.
4. Can the rods be customized by length and shank size?
Yes, our tapered drill rods come in lengths ranging from 0.4m to 10m and support various shank sizes such as Hex 22mm and Hex 25mm in different lengths.
5. How are the products protected during shipping?
Products are standardly packaged in wooden cases or bundles with surface spray-paint treatment to ensure they arrive in optimal condition.
6. Does the taper angle of the rod need to match the drill bit?
Absolutely. The basic technical requirement is that the taper drill rod and the taper drill bit must share the exact same tapered degree for safe and efficient operation.
