Product Description

Taper drill rod is essentially used for rock drilling, blasting holes and other drilling works in quarries, coal mines, traffic and other construction projects. It works in conjunction with taper drill bits and is available in different lengths for various applications.

Our taper drill rods come in a variety of taper angles. Generally, light-duty rock drills use a 7° taper or smaller, while heavy-duty rock drills mainly utilize 11° or 12° taper angles. It is critical that taper drill rods and taper drill bits share the same tapered degree for optimal performance. We provide tapered rods in a full range of shank configurations and steel hex diameters for hand-held pneumatic drilling needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the primary applications for taper drill rods?
Taper drill rods are widely used for rock drilling, creating blasting holes, and other essential drilling tasks in quarries, coal mines, and various infrastructure construction projects.
How do I choose the correct taper angle for my rock drill?
Selection depends on the machine duty. Light-duty rock drills typically use a 7° taper or smaller, while heavy-duty machines generally require an 11° or 12° taper angle.
What steel grades are used in the manufacturing of these rods?
Our rods are manufactured using high-quality steel grades including 95CrMo (equivalent to SANDBAR 20/C253), Z708, Sanbar 23, and 55SiMnMo for maximum durability.
Do the drill bits and rods need to have matching taper angles?
Yes, it is a fundamental requirement that the taper drill rod and the taper drill bit have the exact same tapered degree to ensure a secure fit and efficient energy transfer.
What are the standard shank sizes available?
Common shank sizes include Hex. 22mm x 108mm, 22mm x 159mm, and Hex. 25mm x 108mm/159mm, catering to various handheld pneumatic drilling equipment.
How are the products protected during transport?
To ensure safe delivery and prevent damage, products are typically packaged in sturdy wooden cases or secured in bundles depending on the order size and requirements.
